Selected Artwork: Annunciation and Visitation Location: West Portals of Reims Cathedral Culture: Gothic Date: 1225-45 Artist: Anonymous I was always very much interested in the Gothic architecture and Gothic style artworks. That is why I have selected this one for the better understanding of the Gothic style. The four figures are located at the west portals of the Reims Cathedral depicting the Annunciation and the Visitation of Virgin Mary. Movement or motion can be noted in all the four figures by looking at their postures. On the left are the figures of Virgin Mary and the archangel Gabriel. On the right are the figures of pregnant Mary and pregnant St. Elizabeth. They were probably made to look like in between a conversation with slight emotions on their faces.
